Appel à candidatures au panel Safety and Environment Advisory (SEA) d’IODP3 🗓️2026-09-10

IODP³ invite les spécialistes des domaines de la géologie marine, de la géophysique et/ou de l’ingénierie issus de la communauté des géosciences à rejoindre les membres actuels du groupe SEA (Safety and Environment Advisory) pour un mandat de trois ans. Les scientifiques possédant une expertise dans les domaines du gaz ou des hydrocarbures en faible profondeur et des systèmes carbonatés sont particulièrement encouragés à postuler.

Le groupe SEA est une instance consultative d’IODP³ fournissant une expertise indépendante sur les risques encourus lors des opérations de forage et carottage. Il joue aussi un rôle de conseil sur les technologies de forage et de carottage appropriées pour prévenir les risques opérationnels et protéger l’environnement, tout en prenant en compte les considérations géopolitiques et culturelles susceptibles d’influer sur la mise en œuvre des projets. À ce titre, il est souvent sollicité pour les opérateurs et panels d’IODP³.

Description du poste (en anglais)

The Safety and Environment Advisory (SEA) Group is an advisory body to the IODP³ MSP Facility Board (MSP-FB), Science Evaluation Panel (SEP) and the IODP³ Operators. It provides essential independent advice regarding potential safety and environmental issues associated with the general and specific geological settings of proposed drilling/coring sites. The SEA Group also provides advice on appropriate drilling/coring technologies for the avoidance of drilling hazards and the protection of the environment, plus advice on geopolitical and cultural considerations that may affect implementation of drilling/coring proposals.

In this call, IODP³ is seeking applications from specialists in the fields of marine geology, geophysics and/or engineering from across the geoscientific community to join the current members of the SEA Group for a three-year term. Scientists with expertise in shallow gas/hydrocarbons, and in carbonate systems are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applicants should be able to provide expert advice on maximising safety and minimising environmental impact associated with drilling/coring of proposed sites, including sites in hydrocarbon prone and biologically, environmental or culturally sensitive areas. Members of the SEA Group will be primarily selected based on this specific expertise.
